Pradeep Chandana Gunarathne is an accomplished Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience working across mental health, disability services, child development, and community well-being. His career has been defined by a deep commitment to helping people of all ages live more meaningful and independent lives, while also shaping the systems and policies that support inclusive care.
Pradeep began his career at the National Institute of Mental Health, Sri Lanka, where he pioneered the country’s first Forensic Psychiatry Rehabilitation Service.
His work here combined clinical expertise with program development, creating new opportunities for patients with complex mental health needs to reintegrate into their communities. Later, in the Maldives, he spearheaded the establishment of the Child Development Centre at Hulhumale Hospital, expanding access to specialised therapy services for children and their families.

Alongside his clinical practice, Pradeep is deeply engaged in teaching, research, and advocacy. He currently serves as a Lecturer in Occupational Therapy at the University of Kelaniya, where he trains the next generation of therapists, contributes to curriculum development, and mentors students in clinical placements. Internationally, he serves as Co-chair of the Universal Health Coverage Working Group of the Global Mental Health Action Network, where he leads collaborative efforts to ensure that mental health is integrated into global health systems. He also serves as the National Organiser of the Collective for Advocacy and Networking in Mental Health (CAN MH Lanka), a role that allows him to influence mental health policy, strengthen community networks, and promote disability rights in Sri Lanka.

Pradeep’s expertise extends beyond therapy rooms into policy, research, and public engagement. He has served on national expert advisory groups to develop disability assessments and child protection guidelines, contributed to international publications and guidelines with the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), and presented his work at conferences in Asia, Europe, and Africa. His contributions have been recognised through awards, including the Distinguished Service Award from the National Institute of Mental Health and a Presidential Award for Mental Health Advocacy.

At Dynamic OT, Pradeep brings together this wealth of experience to deliver therapy services that are holistic, evidence-based, and person-centred. His approach emphasises not only improving daily functioning but also enhancing overall well-being, confidence, and participation in society. Through services ranging from child development therapy and workplace assessments to mental health support and corporate wellness programmes, he is dedicated to making occupational therapy accessible, practical, and empowering for individuals, families, and organisations alike.

Pradeep believes that true healing and growth happen when people are supported to live with dignity, purpose, and connection. His vision for Dynamic OT is to be a hub of innovation, inclusivity, and compassionate care, where therapy goes beyond treatment and becomes a pathway to a more fulfilling life.
