Occupational Therapy (OT)

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a client-centred health profession that supports individuals across the lifespan to participate in the activities, or “occupations,” that are meaningful to them. These occupations encompass a range of activities, including self-care, education, work, play, leisure, and social participation.

Grounded in the belief that engagement in purposeful activity promotes health and well-being, occupational therapists use evidence-based strategies to enhance function, independence, and quality of life. OT addresses physical, cognitive, psychosocial, sensory, and environmental challenges that may impact an individual’s ability to perform daily tasks. Therapists work collaboratively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to assess needs, set goals, and implement personalised intervention plans. Whether supporting a child with developmental delays, an adult recovering from mental illness, or an elderly person maintaining independence at home, occupational therapy plays a vital role in enabling people to live life to the fullest.

Mental Health Conditions

Depression

We support individuals with depression by helping them re-establish daily routines, engage in meaningful activities, and build a sense of purpose and achievement.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

We support clients in developing alternative coping strategies, improving time use, and re-engaging in disrupted occupations, often in collaboration with CBT-based treatments.

Anxiety Disorders

We assist individuals in identifying triggers and developing practical coping strategies to manage anxiety in daily life.

Phobia

We use a supportive, trauma-informed approach to help clients gradually face their fears, reduce avoidance, and rebuild confidence.

Post-tramumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

We use trauma-informed care to help clients regain a sense of safety, rebuild routines, and gradually re-engage in daily occupations.

Psychotic Disorders

We help individuals develop functional skills for independent living, enhance social interaction, and promote community participation.

Developmental Conditions

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

We support children with ASD by enhancing their engagement in daily activities with personalised, strengths-based interventions. We address sensory processing, social, emotional, communication, and daily living challenges through therapies like sensory integration, visual schedules, social skills training, play therapy, and parent coaching.

Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

We support children and adults with ADHD by enhancing their ability to manage attention, impulse control, and activity regulation in daily life. We utilise structured routines, visual supports, sensory strategies, and executive function training to enhance time management, task initiation, organisation, and self-regulation.

Developmental Delays

We work on early identification and intervention for children with developmental delays, which may affect motor skills, cognition, language, social interaction, or adaptive functioning. We provide individualised, play-based interventions to promote age-appropriate development in self-care, fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and social engagement.

Physical Conditions

Stroke

Stroke survivors often experience challenges in performing daily activities due to weakness or paralysis on one side of the body.

Our occupational therapy techniques, including therapeutic exercises, focus on enhancing strength, coordination, and balance.

Arthritis

People with arthritis may experience pain, stiffness, and limited joint mobility, which can impact daily tasks such as dressing, cooking, or cleaning. We utilise therapeutic exercises to enhance flexibility, recommend adaptive tools to mitigate strain, and educate on joint protection for improved symptom management.

Spinal Cord Injuries

We help individuals with spinal cord injuries regain functional independence. These injuries can cause different levels of paralysis, affecting mobility and self-care tasks. Occupational therapy focuses on developing skills for daily activities, such as dressing, grooming, and household chores.

Hand Injuries

Hand injuries can affect strength, coordination, and fine motor skills, making everyday activities like writing, eating, or buttoning clothes challenging. We provide tailored rehabilitation to restore mobility and function, introduce adaptive techniques and tools to support independence, and guide clients in safe, gradual return to their daily roles and occupations.
